You should try to utilize it in the form of a snack. Take a protein shake usually 1-3 times a day depending on how “big” you are aiming to get. Eating lots of protein will not make you big, you have to work HARD in the gym too. Anyway, try to aim to eat 36-42 grams of protein per 3 hours either by eating lean meats or a protein shake. Best time to take shakes is first thing in the morning, 45 min window after a workout, or before bed to allow natural hgH to be produced as you sleep.

soo im taking protein 1-2 scoops in the morning then after a workout 3.5 scoops then 1-2 scoops before bed

thats more than you need. assuming its 20 grams per scoop, your wasting it. generally you can only process about 80 grams of whey protein a day. so take maybe a scoop in the morning, and 3 after workout.. if that.
get the rest of your protein from other sources. and drink a lot of water

(1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day) whats dose this mean?
January 2nd, 2010 at 3:43 am
@mankind433
it should actually be .7 to .9 grams of protein for every pound of your body weight…they just round up to 1. So if you weigh 180 pounds you should take that by .9 —-> 180 x .9=162 grams of protein…The recommended for daily value is about .5 to .6 grams of protein…the .9 is for intense strength training regimens

i am 140pounds so how much should i need?
January 2nd, 2010 at 4:34 am
take 140 by .9 which is 126 grams…seems like a lot but if you have an intense exercise regimine then you should be fine…dont for get to get enough of your carbs and good fats as well…and if 126 seems like a lot you dont need to eat that much but at least around 100 grams a day

I’m 161 pounds, how much protein should I take?
January 20th, 2010 at 3:38 am
@Retop5
True whey is the best out there. It has the highest protein content I have come across, one 25g serving has 19g of protein. I’ve also tried others, Maximuscle is equally as good but more expensive. One to avoid is Body Fortress from holland and barrat, it tastes foul, doesnt mix well and protein content isn’t great either. @BillyMacRaeTv the general rule of thumb is 1 gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight. Remember that you’ll get some of it from food though.
January 22nd, 2010 at 10:44 am
@BillyMacRaeTv 161 grams per day
January 22nd, 2010 at 10:45 am
@BillyMacRaeTv actually u will need less then 161 grams
as some amount of ur weight is due to fats
count only lean body mass (total weight less body fat percentage)
